How can I see Prophet (peace be upon him) in my dream and have more love for him?
What a beautiful question! May you be blessed with this great gift, Āmīn!
Seeing the Prophet of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) is a great blessing upon the believers. How fortunate are those individuals who have been bestowed this blessing! The beauty of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) is matchless. His vision is means of satisfaction and peace. His sight brings delight to the hearts and souls. People would desire seeing him, they would cry to be with him. The greatest men of Allāh would sleep intending to see his beautiful face.
Glory be to Allāh! This is a living miracle of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) that those who are engrossed in his remembrance and kindle the light of his love in the heart will be blessed seeing him.
The Prophet of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) has said, “He who sees me in a dream has certainly seen me, because Satan cannot take my form.”
[Bukhārī]
In another narration the Beloved of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) has said, “He who saw me in a dream will soon see me when he is awake, for Satan cannot take my form.”
[Mishkāt]
To see him one needs to create the desire. To create the desire one needs to love him. To love him one needs to follow him. To follow him one needs to know him. To know him one needs to read the books of Shamā’il and Sīrah. By Allāh! Read the Shamā’il out of respect and you will fall in love with this great personality.
You only love a person due to one of the three reasons:
1. Jamāl (Beauty)
2. Iĥsān (Favour)
3. Kamāl (Perfection)
Is there anyone more beautiful than him (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم)? Has anyone done a great favour upon you than him (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم)? Is there anyone more perfect, in every sense of the word, than him (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم)? No doubt! One should fall in love with him.
Reading Dalā’il al-Khayrāt daily is the elixir of love. Read Şalawāt upon the beloved few times daily in such a manner that you are sat on your knees. Close your eyes. Fold your arms. Imagine the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) is sat looking at you. Imagine his beautiful face. Imagine his face more beautiful than the full moon. Imagine his radiant forehead like a piece of a moon. Imagine his black oily long hair touching the shoulders. Imagine his beautiful ears. Imagine the long eye lashes. Imagine the beautifully-shaped eye brows that seemed to touch each other at the end. Imagine the dark black shiny pupils and the whiteness of the eyes having red thread-like marks. Imagine a long thin nose suiting his radiant face. Imagine the red thin beautiful lips. Imagine the radiant white teeth like pearls. Imagine a gap between his upper two teeth from which light would emit. Imagine his cheeks, radiant with tint of redness. Imagine him think broad beard. Imagine the Prophet is praying for his sinful followers….once in this state now with utmost love, respect, reverence, knowing he is listening to you, knowing he understands your feelings and thoughts, knowing you are the most inferior, regarding yourself the worst Muslim, regard yourself not worthy of even imaging him, imagining yourself coming with nothing except sins, looking down out of shame, then recite:
Al-Şalātu Wa al-Salāmu ‘Alayka Ya RasūlAllāh, Ya ĤabībAllāh, Ya NūrAllāh, Ya Raĥmatal Lil ‘Ālamīn, Ya Muhib al-Fuqarā Wal Ghurabā Wal Masakīn (O the lover of poor and destitute) and keep sending Şalawāt in this state(صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم).
Try and weep over your sins, think how ‘unfortunate’ you are that millions have been blessed seeing him and you are yet not been blessed with his vision…cry over your own state….the more humble you become the greater the blessing!
No doubt praying Salāt in this manner will increase your love for him (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم).
There are many Şalawāt which one can read to see the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وصحبه وسلم) which you will find in many books.
May Allāh give us all the true love of the Prophet şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam and may we be blessed seeing him in our dreams and in wakefulness, in this world and in the Hereafter. Āmīn.
Allah knows best.
