QUESTION:

What do the scholars of the Din and muftis of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: I wish to open a YouTube channel – how is it to do so? I wish to make some videos and share them; the content would be regarding education for children.

Questioner: Rizwan from UK

ANSWER:

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب

There is no problem in opening a YouTube channel – it is absolutely permissible – on the condition that the videos shared are in line & in accordance to Sharī’ah. There are many YouTube channels worldwide which busy themselves in sharing impermissible content, and there are several which share content against Islām. Thus, there is a great need in today’s day & age to open Islamic YouTube channels, which can portray, spread & propagate true Islamic content to the young & old, but it is a must that a person seeks the view & opinion of the relevant scholars of the Ahl al-Sunnah before uploading one’s own videos.
