What do the scholars of the Din and muftis of the Sacred Law state regarding the following issue: during childbirth is it permissible to listen to na’at (poetry in praise of the Messenger of Allah)? Also, tell me of such litanies that when recited will lessen the pain of labour and make childbirth easy.

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
الجواب بعون الملک الوھاب اللھم ھدایۃ الحق والصواب
There is no harm in listening to na’at at that time [during child birth]. The verses;
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْم
اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انۡشَقَّتْ
وَ اَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّہَا وَ حُقَّتْ
وَ اِذَا الْاَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
وَ اَلْقَتْ مَا فِیۡہَا وَ تَخَلَّتْ
[Surah Al-Inshiqaq, verses 1-4]
…should be written on a piece of paper, then wrapped in a piece of cloth and tied to the woman’s left arm. Or recite [the above verses] seven times upon water for the woman to drink. You can do both of these; with these childbirth will become easy.
